HO Scale 55 Gallon Drums – (Flat Top, Bunghole, and Other Variations)
Table of Contents
These drums are one of those subtle details that help tie everything together. Whether they’re stacked behind a fueling station, tossed in a corner of the yard, or lined up outside a shop, they add a lived-in feel that makes your scene more believable.
Each drum is 3D-printed with sharp, clean detail—whether you go with the classic 3-ribbed flat top, smooth flat top, bunghole version, or the hollow one with a removable-style lid. You can paint them up clean and new, or give them the weathered look with rust, dents, and grime. They’re unpainted and ready for you to finish your way.
Designed by a fellow model railroader (that’s me, Jamie), these are made with care and purpose—so you can focus on building something that feels right and tells a story.

FAQ About The Products
All of my models are produced using high-resolution resin (suitable for miniature / modeling use) printing designed for fine HO-scale detail.
You may see small marks, bumps, or tiny surface dots — these are normal and come from the support structures used during printing.
A quick pass with fine-grit sandpaper will smooth these areas during your finishing work.
Pack Size is the number of identical items included in a single purchase.
For example, if a listing shows a Pack Size of 4, you’ll receive four of that item in the set. Each product page lists the Pack Size so you know exactly how many pieces you’re getting.
Others will let you choose the Pack Size in the options.
Maker Prep = Washed & Cured with Supports Attached
This option gives you a professionally printed model that is:
- Fully washed
- Fully UV-cured
- Shipped with supports still attached
Supports protect delicate details during transit and give you full control over cleanup.
Expect small support contact points that you can sand smooth during your prep.
Craftsman Prep = Supports Removed + Light Sanding
For this option, each model is:
- Washed
- UV-cured
- Carefully cleaned with supports removed
- Lightly sanded by hand
This gives you a smoother surface and a piece that’s closer to paint-ready.
Because this process takes time and steady hands, Craftsman Prep is priced higher.
Each model is finished individually, and removing supports without damaging fine HO-scale detail requires careful work. The added cost reflects the extra craftsmanship that goes into preparing the model for you.
Tiny marks may still remain (normal for resin printing), but the surface will be much smoother and ready for primer.
Photos reflect the model exactly as you will receive it — no retouching, no smoothing filters.
This helps you know precisely what to expect before any finishing work.
Not every design is suited for both Maker Prep and Craftsman Prep.
Some parts are too fragile for support removal before shipping, while others benefit from being fully cleaned and sanded ahead of time.
Each listing will clearly show which prep options are offered.
For Maker Prep models, most builders use:
- Flush cutters
- Hobby knife
- Fine-grit sandpaper (400–1000+)
- Small files (optional)
Craftsman Prep models require little to no prep before primer.
Shipping FAQ
I use flat rate shipping on all orders so there are no surprises at checkout.
You’ll see the same simple rate every time, no matter what you order.
Most standard orders ship within 2–3 business days.
Craftsman Prep items may take a little longer since they’re finished by hand, but I work to keep things moving quickly. Expect 3 – 4 business days.
If shipping ever takes longer — for example during high-volume weeks or when I’m finishing larger batches — a notice will appear at the top of the website with the current expected delay.
This way you’ll always know what to expect before placing an order.
Every model is packed with care to protect fine HO-scale details during transit.
Models printed in Maker Prep may arrive with supports attached to improve shipping safety.
Right now, I can only ship to the US. If you are outside of the US drop me a line and maybe we can work something out. Just note that the flat rate shipping only applies to US addresses. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
Yes. As soon as your order ships, you’ll receive a tracking number by email so you can follow your package the whole way.
While damage is rare, I stand behind my prints.
If your package arrives with issues, just reach out and I’ll work with you to make it right.
Other FAQ
Yes, for certain items I can make small modifications or custom packs. Just send me a message with what you need.
Resin colors can change depending on batch and manufacturer.
Color variation does not affect print quality, detail, or durability.
Since the models are meant to be painted, surface color differences won’t impact the final result.
